Our Story:
Hi, I’m Ian Jay! I’ve been making comics seriously since 2005. I have a B.F.A. in Sequential Art from the Savannah College of Art and Design, and I currently split my time between working on a graphic novel (Epiphany) and several short-story comic projects. My ultimate career goal is to support myself off my comic work, and I feel that creating this book will bring me one step closer to achieving that dream.
The Impact:
Ian Jay Super Comics: Volume One is a book that includes significant comic I’ve done since I started college (not including Epiphany, which will get its own book release later this year). It can be viewed multiple ways:
- As a document of an artist’s improvement over several years of practice and refinement.
- As a portfolio of the wide variety of different styles and subject matter that I can cover.
- As a durable, portable and comprehensive replacement for readers’ minicomic collections.
- As a big book full of really weird comics.
It will give fans something cool to hang onto and share for years, it will give people who have never heard of me a starting point to understanding the kind of work I do, and it will give me a professional edge with potential employers. By printing this book, I hope to take my skills and reputation to a higher level.
What We Need & What You Get:
I need a bare minimum of nine hundred dollars to get the books printed and shipped out. I’m doing this fundraiser through Indiegogo’s Flexible Funding system, so if you pre-order the book, you’re going to get a copy, even if we don’t manage to raise enough money in time. You should be getting your hard or digital copy of the book, as well as any extra goodies you might have ordered, on April 6th.
